We’ll need the names, birthdates and relationships to the primary policyholder (you) for everyone in your household, including non-drivers. Examples include spouses/partners, children, parents, grandparents and roommates.

  • Estimated weekly mileage

Ways to save

After you enter your information for a quote, we’ll suggest discounts for your situation. Common discounts include:

  • Easy Pay discount (if you agree to set up automatic deductions from your bank account)
  • Passive restraint discount (if your vehicle is equipped with airbags)
  • Paperless policy discount (if you sign up for paperless documents)
  • Home and car discount (for combining your home and auto insurance)
  • Accident free discount (for maintaining an accident-free driving record)

We’ll also suggest one of our usage-based savings programs, which could lead to significant savings:

  • SmartRide®: Our safe-driving behavior program is designed for vehicles driven more than 8,000 miles a year.1
  • SmartMiles®: Our pay-per-mile program is designed for vehicles driven less than 8,000 miles a year.2

All discounts and savings programs are optional. If you decline a savings program, you can recalculate your quote.

Standard & optional auto insurance coverages

After you enter your information for a quote, we’ll also suggest coverages, including deductibles and limits.

Even though we provide coverage descriptions in the quoting application, you may want to review coverage options before starting a quote. Start with the coverages, deductibles and limits on your current policy, then review Nationwide’s auto insurance coverages.

*[1] Smart Ride availability varies; program criteria differs in California. Stated discounts are approximations. Discounts do not apply to all coverage elements; actual savings vary by state, coverage selections, rating factors and policy changes. Enrollment discount applies during data collection; final discount is calculated on driving behavior and could be zero. Final discount applies at the next policy renewal and is subject to change based upon actuarial support at subsequent renewals or with changes in drivers or vehicles on the policy. [2] SmartMiles availability varies. The SmartMiles variable premium is based upon the Cost Per Mile established for the coverages in force and the number of days and miles driven when the coverage is in force. The SmartMiles Driving Behavior Discount could be zero and does not apply to all coverage elements; actual savings vary by state, coverage selections, rating factors and policy changes. The Driving Behavior discount applies at the next policy renewal and remains while the vehicle is enrolled in SmartMiles. Estimated payments are subject to change based upon the final rated mileage during the mileage period and any policy changes.
