How it works:

  1. Your customer must have auto and home policies with Nationwide.
  2. Your customer must enroll and complete one of our telematics programs, SmartRide® or SmartMiles®.
  3. Your customer must have earned an average of 28% or higher SmartRide discount or 6% or higher Safe Driving Behavior Discount in SmartMiles at the policy level. Approximately 38% of existing auto customers will qualify for this discount if they also have a homeowner’s policy with Nationwide.1

Nationwide applies a discount to homeowners policies for customers who have telematics on their auto policy, and have earned an average of 28% or higher SmartRide policy level discount or 6% or higher SmartMiles policy level Safe Driving Behavior Discount. In OH and OR, they must have a Telematics Matrix score of 101 – 103.

Nationwide’s safest drivers save an average 5% on home insurance if the customer has earned the minimum telematics discount.

If the quote is bound in PolicyCenter, the discount will be applied at that time. If the quote is bound in Nationwide Express, the discount will be applied during the cross policy read that occurs 55 days after the inception date of the policy back to the effective date of the policy.

Yes, the discount only applies to a homeowner policy and does not apply to a condo unit owner or tenant policy.
