The need is great
Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood. Every eight minutes, the American Red Cross responds to an emergency — whether it’s a small house fire or a multi-state natural disaster. Nationwide has taken this mission to heart by helping the Red Cross provide clean water, safe shelter, hot food and life-saving blood to those who need it most.
Our giving history
Our first blood drive was in 1944, and today, associates continue to give at blood drives in nearly two dozen Nationwide communities — including in the country’s first corporate onsite American Red Cross donation center located in our home office.
But we do more than roll up our sleeves to give blood. As a founding member of the Annual Disaster Giving Program, the Nationwide Foundation helps the Red Cross with immediate resources to respond to disasters whenever and wherever they happen. Since 2000, the Nationwide Foundation has contributed $22 million to American Red Cross disaster relief.
More ways we partner
The Nationwide Foundation, the company and our associates make extra donations to the American Red Cross to answer the call after a natural disaster or other tragic event strikes a community in our country.
